Goal
This document provides instructions on how to perform Storage Expansion on ZDLRA RoCE Hardware.
The use cases covered in this document include:
- Same DELTA Storage Expansion
- ZDLRA X8M + X8M Storage cells
- ZDLRA X9M + X9M Storage cells
- ZDLRA X8M + X9M Storage cells (Less than 3 cells)
- New DELTA(n) Storage Expansion
- ZDLRA X8M + X9M Storage cells (3 or more cells)

Goal |
Solution |
Confirm ZDLRA Services are online (First compute node) |
Cell cell attributes on the new cells (All new storage cells) |
Configure Flashcache (All new storage cells) |
Update Etc Hosts (All compute nodes) |
Update cellip.ora (All compute nodes) |
Create Celldisks and Griddisks (All new storage cells) |
Use Case 1: SAME DELTA Storage Expansion |
ZDLRA X8M + X8M Storage Cells |
Confirm the new griddisks can be seen by kfod (First compute node) |
Add the new griddisks to the ASM diskgroups (First compute node) |
Check Rebalance (First compute node) |
Check storage_location size |
Update the db_recovery_file_dest to the new Storage Location |
Create RA_CF |
Increase the size of the RA_POOL tablespace |
Update the SL_sizing Table Using the API Call |
Get the size of the Storage Location as RASYS USER |
Validate the size of Diskgroup (+DELTA) to be added to the Storage Location |
Update the Storage Locations to include the new storage |
Confirm that the storage location has increased in size |
Update the throttle to update the config values |
Confirm the Storage Location Size |
Use Case 2: New DELTA(n) Expansion |
ZDLRA X8M + X9M Storage Cells (3 or more cells) |
Confirm the new griddisks can be seen by kfod (First compute node) |
Update the asm_diskstring to Include the New Diskgroup |
Create the new DELTA(n) ASM diskgroup |
Add the CATALOG griddisks to the CATALOG ASM diskgroup |
Check Rebalance (First compute node) |
Check storage_location size |
Mount the new diskgroup on the other compute nodes (All other compute nodes) |
Use API call to Change the value of db_recovery_file_dest_size parameter |
Create RA_CF |
Check the NEW value of db_recovery_file_dest_size parameter |
Increase the size of the RA_POOL tablespace |
Get current data files count in rapoolN (rapool, rapool2, rapool3, rapool4) and confirm value = 56* #of X8M cell |
Confirm that there are two (2) DELTA Diskgroups |
Confirm the multi tbs layout value Is 1 |
Confirm disk group number (X8 + X9) with value 2 |
Get new diskgroup number and diskgroup name |
Get total cell count after adding X9 cells |
Get total target value from rapool_interim_view |
Cleanup the rapool_interim_table |
Update rapool_interim_table |
Confirm 8 rows in rapool_interim_table |
Update rapool_interim_table with value got from very beginning |
Check the rapool_interim_table |
Create data file in DELTA2 for rapool, rapool2, rapool3, rapool4 |
Check rapool_view |
Update the SL_sizing Table Using the API Call |
Get the size of the Storage Location as RASYS USER |
Update the Storage Locations to include the new storage |
Confirm the Expansion was Successful by checking the sizes for SL |
Update the throttle to update the config values |
Confirm the Storage Location Size |
