ORA-01843 or ORA-01830 Creating table with Default Timestamp value (Doc ID 2670983.1)

Symptoms

Trying to create a new table that contains a default value for a Timestamp datatype and get errors related to date/month.

CREATE TABLE REFERENCE
     (
       "U_P" NUMBER(10,0) NOT NULL ENABLE,
       "U_DT"          TIMESTAMP (6) DEFAULT '1970-01-01 00:00:00.000000',   <<<<<<<<  Timestamp datatype with a default value
       "U_ID"            NUMBER(*,0) NOT NULL ENABLE,

 

Various date related errors may be returned depending on date string.


ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string

ORA-01843: not a valid month
