Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Post upgrade to  19.6 flashback queries see:

The table  <schemas>.<table> has had no DML performed on it since before the table was enabled for flashback archive.

Getting ORA-01555 when issuing Flashback Versions queries (i.e.VERSIONS BETWEEN SCN 0 AND MAXVALUE) on tables that have a supporting Flashback Data Archive.

This is only happening in 19c database have had no such issue with this application, or similar ones, running 11.2, 12.1 or 12.2, for years.

The error may be raised on tables that actually have inserts/updates in the timeframe covered by the query, or on tables that have not had any inserts/updates in that timeframe.

Examination of trace files collected during these failures (provided) show that the error occurs during read of UNDO for the base table, not while trying to access the supporting SYS_FBA_xxx tables.

Repeated executions of the failing query may then succeed for a while, then later fail again.

The error is sporadic, not entirely consistent, but it is frequent.
