Purpose

This note provides a quick reference to Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) key product factors: Oracle Linux (OL) version / UEK, ODA hardware type, and ODA version.*

*While the same information can be found for each individual ODA Release this document provides a single matrix for easy review across all OL, Hardware and ODA versions since 12.1.2.0.0.
For ODA versions before 12.2.1.1 please refer directly to the  specific ODA release documentation or Patchset Readme and/or documentation release notes for component version(s).

 

Scope

The ODA is an engineered system. Each ODA version supports a SINGLE OS OL version and kernel*.

 This note will assist ODA product users confirm if the Oracle Linux version, ODA Hardware Type and ODA are compatible with specific applications or other functionality.
 The OS information can be helpful in determining if upgrading or migration is required to resolve known issues which may exist for specific Linux versions.
 The information can also be useful in determining the best match for Hardware, ODA Versions and product lifecycles.

 

Note:
* Each ODA version will have a single OL version but should not to be confused with the multiple OS versions available using Virtual Machines including KVM or legacy ODAVP.
   Some specific OS issues may be resolved as of 18.7 and higher using ksplice: refer to
18.7 New Feature "Enabling Kernel Updates" for more information.
   Prior to ODA support for ksplice known OS issues required upgrading the ODA version to the appropriate OS level and kernel.
