Symptoms

Operations involving temporary data (such as creating indexes, or SELECTs that sort the results) throw the following error:

ORA-28374: typed master key not found in wallet

Importantly, SELECT statements that do not sort data do not encounter this error.  The error only happens when sorting is involved.

 

Changes

 This can occur after RMAN DUPLICATE or RESTORE of another database that is using TDE to encrypt data.
