"Could not execute auto check for display colors using command /usr/bin/xdpyinfo. Check if the DISPLAY variable is set. Failed " When Running OUI On Linux (Doc ID 2722162.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 30, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Trying to run a Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) seems to be hanging after this point:

The following required X11 packages are installed.

libICE
libSM
libXt
libXmu
xorg-x11-xauth

The /etc/ssh/sshd_config file has "X11Forwarding yes" set and it is not commented ( # ).

Connection is being made via SSH or PuTTY as one user (for example, ssh -l root -X mynode_01) then running su to switch to another user (for example, su - oracle).

If using a tool such as PuTTY, X11 Forwarding has been enabled in the tool as well.
