Symptoms

RMAN CATALOG KEEPS GETTING OUT OF SYNC RMAN-6059


A DBA is implementing RMAN to backup a new database. The backups were tested by attempting to restore the database and everything worked fine.

Then the database was restored again from a cold backup done prior to testing of RMAN

The old archive logs were deleted and now getting the expected archive log not found error.

Tried to Resync the database and the catalog with the resync and the crosscheck command in RMAN. Neither worked

If connected to the RMAN catalog as the catalog owner and

 
It shows that RMAN thinks all the old archive logs are still available despite . the fact they have been deleted.
