After Exadata Quarterly Patching Ethernet Ports Are Down (Doc ID 2749875.1)

Brocade Top of Rack Switches were in use and the compute nodes were connected to them.

Symptoms

After appling image 19.3.7.0.0.200428 April 2020 Quarterly many network ports went down on X5 compute nodes that were bonded.

Eth2 also went down after applying this Quarterly Patch.

- There were four compute nodes that were upgraded from OL6 to OL7 applying this Quarterly patch.
- On an Exadata X5 server the nodes for bond eth1 and eth3 were showing as down on all compute nodes after the patching event.
- The ethtool output link detected and reported "NO" for eth3 interface which is down.
- The "Link detected: no" indicates a physical problem in the wired interface and typically means the fault is either be in the switchport or in the cable.

Changes

 No other changes were noted.
