ORA-65345 When Refreshing PDB Sourced From Active Data Guard Standby (Doc ID 2765472.1)

Last updated on APRIL 22, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 19.10.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

You need to refresh the refreshable PDB from a physical standby database. This feature is not currently available.

One has to refresh from a primary database. When one refreshes from a physical standby database, it failed with the error below:

alter pluggable database <pdb name> refresh
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-65345: cannot refresh pluggable database

Workaround

=========

You need to cancel the managed recovery from the source standby and force log switch on all Primary instances if the primary database

is a RAC database to get the refresh to work.

This setup is intended to support a daily snap clone from the refreshable PDB sourced from the Standby. Ideally we would like it to be refreshable whilst the Standby is in Real Time Apply mode. Even if we have to disable apply we would like to be able to refresh without other intervention.
