How To Restore One Tablesapce Of a PDB Database To New CDB Database Using Rman (Doc ID 2767131.1)

Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

We are trying to do Partial db restore/recovery and for one PDB one tablespace to a new CDB.  The second CDB doesn't exist and will be created with just the root, pdb$seed and pdb:tablespace we want to recover. All other pdb's should be dropped by RMAN during the process.  Using syntax provided in the RMAN documentation doesn't work when using only the auxiliary with backup location without the recovery catalog and target connections.

RMAN-05501: aborting duplication of target database
RMAN-05514: Tablespace PDB3:SYSEXT has undo information, cannot skip
