How To Install A Self Signed SSL Certificate With Arbitrary Period of Validity Into The MySQL Enterprise Monitor Service Manager (Doc ID 2771125.1)

Last updated on APRIL 27, 2021

Applies to:

MySQL Enterprise Monitor - Version 4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The certificate of the service manager of MySQL Enterprise Manager expires after 365 days from installation or upgrade. This is reasonable period in most cases if the user upgrades the service manager regularly. However, if the user misses to upgrade the service manager over 365 days, it suddenly gets unable to connect from agents nor users. Thus, data collection will also be dropped. To resume connection to the service manager, the certificate must be refreshed. To prevent this surprise, prolonging the life of the certificate can become a choice.

Important: This document does not intend to discourage users from upgrading the service manager. Upgrading the service manager is beneficial on most cases, because new version fixes bugs and vulnerabilities.
