Install Oracle Batch/TSO Client components (Doc ID 278323.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 25, 2020

Applies to:

Operating System Dependent Interface - Version 9.2 to 10.0
IBM z/OS on System z

Goal

The supplied Installation and System Administration guides are primarily aimed at database server customers, and many of the operations are not relevant for a basic client environment. This note list the chapters and sections of the appropriate manuals which can be ignored or skipped. We still recommend you read the manuals thoroughly to ensure an understanding of product operation - this note is intended to show those areas not directly relevant, or that have no steps to be performed during installation and configuration in a basic client only environment.

The principle considerations for this basic architecture are that we do NOT need:
an OSDI subsystem
database services
a NET service (clients open their own sockets - and hence need a USS Segment)
RACF Resource Classes
and so we can ignore much of the manuals.
