RDBPROD: Oracle CODASYL DBMS: How to Recover From an Inaccessible AIJ (Doc ID 278402.1)

Last updated on APRIL 16, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle CODASYL DBMS - Version 6.0 and later
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS Itanium
HP OpenVMS VAX

Goal

One or more of the After Image Journals (AIJ) for your CODASYL DBMS database has been marked as inaccessible. You want to make it accessible again.

Depending on why the journal was marked as inaccessible and how you have configured journaling, the database may be running without other problems, or it may be completely unavailable with users receiving AIJTERMINATE errors.

The reasons why a journal can be marked as inaccessible are discussed in the Release Notes for Oracle CODASYL DBMS, Version 7.0.4, Section 3.6.
