Symptoms
The C client library could produce a "Malformed communication packet" error if a prepared statement parameter was longer than 8KB and the next parameter represented a NULL value.
This affects both Connector/ODBC and C/C++ connectors, versions 8.0.23, 8.0.24, 8.0.25.
Changes
Connector/ODBC 8.0.22 and Connector/C/C++ 8.0.22 worked fine. After upgrade, the problem occurs.
