Symptoms

Select * from v$spparameter results in an ORA-3113 in the client session. An ORA-7445 trace file is created in the UDUMP directory (Unix) and a core.log in the CDUMP directory for Windows environments.

Changes

The spfile.ora is missing from the location specified while starting the database.
