Symptoms

Step 5, Installing Hadoop Parcel and Upgrading CDH Cluster, of BDA 4.12 and higher OL6 upgrade, fails deploying OL6 parcels due to OL7 parcel conflicts.

The Mammoth upgrade error looks like:

************************************
Error [20949]: (//<HOSTNAME3>.<DOMAIN>//Stage[main]/Hadoop::Installcdhparcel/Exec[deployparcel]/returns) change from notrun to 0 failed:
/opt/oracle/BDAMammoth/bdaconfig/tmp/deployparcel.sh &> /opt/oracle/BDAMammoth/bdaconfig/tmp/deployparcel_<EPOCH_TIMESTAMP>.out returned 1 instead of one of [0]
************************************

1. Navigating in Cloudera Manager (CM) to Hosts > Parcels shows a problem distributing an OL7 parcel version:

Error while downloading parcel CDH-6.2.1-1.cdh6.2.1.p0.1580995-el7.parcel : Parcel CDH-6.2.1-1.cdh6.2.1.p0.1580995-el7.parcel not found on remote repository.."

Additionally checking /opt/oracle/BDAMammoth/bdaconfig/tmp/deployparcel_<EPOCH_TIMESTAMP>.out also shows the same:

"Error while downloading parcel CDH-6.2.1-1.cdh6.2.1.p0.1580995-el7.parcel : Parcel CDH-6.2.1-1.cdh6.2.1.p0.1580995-el7.parcel not found on remote repository.."

This is the case even though no OL7 CDH parcels should be distributed on OL6 clusters.

2. In Cloudera Manager (CM) navigating to: Hosts > Parcels shows that attempts to download an OL7 CDH parcel fail. And these failures block the the OL6 parcel distribution.

3. Note that no OL7 parcels are found in /opt/cloudera/parcel-repo.

4. Cloudera Manager Hosts > Parcels shows the OL7 CDH parcels with a "download" button. Hence there is no way to delete the parcel from CM.
