Upgrade to AVDF 20.5: Avdf-pre-upgrade Warning /boot < 500M (Doc ID 2823419.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall - Version 20.4.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Upgrade AVDF 12.2.0.12 (just Audit Vault, not DB Firewall) to AVDF 20.5

We have reviewed the prechecks and this is what we have got:

- Our /boot has just 343M of free space, but in the official doc

(https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/audit-vault-database-firewall/20/sigig/update.html#GUID-9843452A-724F-4209-807D-793898ADA8A6) states that "The boot partition should have at least 500 MB before the upgrade process can begin"

# date;df -h /boot
Wed Oct 6 10:52:31 UTC 2021
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 488M 120M 343M 26% /boot

In our case, we just have 343M available, BUT the avdf-pre-upgrade does NOT complain about this. The doc says:
"The pre-upgrade RPM performs necessary space checks in the boot partition. In case there is not enough space in the boot partition, the upgrade process may fail. The boot partition should have at least 500 MB before the upgrade process can begin."

Therefore, is it mandatory to have 500M free space in /boot or not?
