ASM Not Starting On RAC Windows Due to OracleASMService+ASM<n> service terminated unexpectedly (Doc ID 2847579.1)

Symptoms

After a reboot the GI stack won't come up because ASM cycles between ONLINE and INTERMEDIATE.

1) GI alert log may show ORA-03113

► 2022-02-05 15:37:36.329 :CLSDYNAM:4296: [ ora.asm]{0:5:31} [check] ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

2) The Windows System Event log will show errors of the following form:

► The OracleASMService+ASM1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this <n> time(s).

3) The Windows Application Event log will ►not◄ show any crashes of the ASM service, nor will the ASM alert log show any errors.

Since there are no app crashes, and only the System Event log registers that the service was terminated unexpectedly, this implies that a third party actor is terminating the ASM service.

Changes

Security / Host Intrusion Protection software either installed or updated since last reboot.
