How to Find the Grub File for Each OS disk on X7-2 Servers with OL6 or OL7 (Doc ID 2851602.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 5.2.0 and later

Goal

How to find the grub files for the OS disks on X7-2 servers with Oracle Linux 7 (OL7) or Oracle Linux 6 (OL6).

Note:

1. On OL7 a grub file exists for each OS disk.  However the grub file for the disk in slot 1 may not be updated by reset-grub-conf unless the latest patch for bdadiskutility is in place.

2. On OL6 a grub file only exists for the disk in slot 0.

Checking the grub for the OS disk is useful if there is any problem booting.  On OL7, checking the grub for each OS disk is useful if there is any discrepancy booting from one OS disk or another.
