Compression On Small Tables Increase Elapse Time And CPU Time 50+% More (Doc ID 2855739.1)

Symptoms

Two tables (one under 200mb, the other 120mb), no LOBs, not partitioned, were compressed. The queries are executed very frequently against these tables and  had a significant increase in elapsed and CPU time. These tables are not updated frequently but have a high volume of SELECTs against them. The queries are not complicated queries.

Changes

 Tables were compressed.
