ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
MySQL queries are slow after the upgrade from 5.6 to 5.7


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Queries in 5.7 should run close to the same speed as 5.6 version, if not better.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Upgrade from 5.6 to 5.7 version
2. Test the same queries
3. Compare speed to 5.6 version

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot get the same performance for their customers.

Changes

5.7 introduces some changes in regards to range optimization, but do not allow control via the optimizer_switch variable to control it further.
