xStream Client Application Hangs With Large Amount Of Entries at GV$xstream_transaction View (Doc ID 2899390.1)

Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 19.15.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The xStream client application stops reading LCRs with no errors and gets into a hang state.

A couple of common symptoms are noted while facing the issue such as:

i. Growth of gv$xstream_transaction without reducing its size, one can use this query to monitor if it returns large number of rows:

select count(*) from gv$xstream_transaction,dba_xstream_outbound_progress where LAST_MESSAGE_NUMBER < PROCESSED_LOW_SCN;

 ii. The xStream propagation receiver component of database goes into 'waiting for memory' state eventually and will not move out of that, this another query can be used to confirm that:

select TOTAL_MSGS, HIGH_WATER_MARK, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, STATE from gv$propagation_receiver;

Changes

 Implemented xStream application type.
