Purpose

This article describes the compatibility and the features and limitations of Transportable Tablespaces Export and Import.

Scope

The article is intended for users of the Oracle8i, Oracle9i, and Oracle10g databases who wish to transport tablespaces between databases. The article gives information which version of the export and import utility to use, and gives a summary of the features that were introduced in different versions.
For more recent versions of Oracle, please refer to:
<Note 1454872.1> - Transportable Tablespace (TTS) Restrictions and Limitations: Details, Reference, and Version Where Applicable

NOTE:
Original Export is desupported for general use as of Oracle Database 11g. The only supported use of original Export in Oracle Database 11g is backward migration of XMLType data to Oracle Database 10g release 2 (10.2) or earlier. Therefore, Oracle recommends that you use the new Data Pump Export and Import utilities
