AWR Report Generation Takes Very Long with Most Waits on "control file sequential read" wait event (Doc ID 2929370.1)

Symptoms

AWR Report generation is taking very long time (3+ hours) and mostly getting stuck at "control file sequential read" waits.

Most wait is seen for below SQL:

- Gathering dictionary and fixed object stats did not help improve the time taken. 

-  Following the suggestions in below documents did not help:
