Pro*C Pre-compiler Prompts For Password Twice When It Is Not Provided in Command Line (Doc ID 2929382.1)

Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Precompilers - Version 19.17.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The Pro*C pre-compiler might ask for password twice when it is not provided in the command line. The issue can be demonstrated using the example given below.

The "PCC-F-02101" error is expected here as the file nofile.pc doesn't exist. The problem may not be seen with other pre-compiler like 'procob' or 'sqlplus' tool.

Changes

The issue may surface either with a new installation of database server/client software or post application of a DBRU patch.
