Options to Mitigate the Reports Manager Filling the Root Partition on the Host with Cloudera Manager Role on the BDA
(Doc ID 2931435.1)
Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023
Applies to:
Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.13.0 and laterLinux x86-64
Goal
As discussed in the MOS note, The Increasing and Decreasing Size of /var/lib/cloudera-scm-headlamp Causes the "/" Partition to Run Out of Space (Doc ID 2773352.1), the Reports Manager downloads the fsimage from the NameNode (every 60 minutes by default), stores it locally and creates a Lucene index for it. Therefore the size of the Reports Manager Working Directory, the directory the Reports Manager uses for it working files, /var/lib/cloudera-scm-headlamp, increases and decreases in size. During Lucene index creation it is expected that the space used by /var/lib/cloudera-scm-headlamp will increase. After Lucene index creation completes it is expected that the space used by /var/lib/cloudera-scm-headlamp will decrease.
On the BDA, the Reports Manager resides on the host with Cloudera Manager (CM) role. As such, the normal operations of the Reports Manager can cause the root partition on the host with CM role to become full which will impact cluster services.
