[RAC]: Grid Infrastructure Upgrade Failed with [INS-30024] Installer has detected that the location determined as Oracle Grid Infrastructure home is not a valid Oracle home (Doc ID 2940821.1)

Symptoms

Grid Infrastructure  upgrade to 19c, $./gridSetup.sh command failed with below  message:

$ ./gridSetup.sh

[INS-30024] Installer has detected that the location determined as Oracle Grid Infrastructure home (/GRIDHOME/oracle/app/product/grid/12.2.0.1), is not a valid Oracle home.

 

Noticed incorrect inventory_loc , when user tried $./gridSetup.sh with patch apply .
