update_image_info Raises "date: invalid date" Leaving imageinfo with an Empty IMAGE_CREATION_DATE (Doc ID 2941571.1)

Symptoms

Running update_image_info to update imageinfo, for example after a kernel upgrade, raises "invalid date".
