Symptoms
Using the ODP .Net core driver, to connect to the Oracle database.
Some usernames are created with a special character, a dot: example:
When connecting from SQLPlus, the connection works fine.
But when connecting with the ODP driver, the connection fails with ORA-01017.
Customer is using the EUS (Enterprise user security) feature of the database.
In the ldap.ora they connect to an Oracle Internet Directory machine.
Changes
The user was created with an older database version and then migrated to the latest database version.
