CRS stack startup takes very long time when large number of asm disks exists (Doc ID 2998529.1)

Last updated on MARCH 18, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 19.11.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Env. :

EMC POWERPATH (4 channels)

Problem :

CRS startup takes very long time. In the end, it fails as crsd's ora.asm takes long time for its start action.

It's very ok to get to cssd startup, cluster join, and node reconfiguration.
ora.asm init resource also started fine.
 ora.ASMNET1LSNR_ASM.lsnr works fine as well.
   AGFW:2828: [ INFO] {1:54518:2} ora.ASMNET1LSNR_ASM.lsnr 1 1 state changed from: STARTING to: ONLINE
However, ora.asm (crsd res) has failed in its star timeout 900s. It never touched to try asm instance startup actually.

Changes

The number of asm disks exceeded around 1000+. Perhaps the startup issue also occurred from then on.
