Symptoms

Linguistic sort is used in your environment. For example, NLS parameters could be set like the following in order for linguistic sorts and searches to be done using UCA0700_DUCET_VN collation.

NLS_SORT = UCA0700_DUCET_VN; QUERY_REWRITE_ENABLED = TRUE; NLS_COMP = linguistic;

 You have linguistic indexes defined on multiple columns. Example of one such index below:
