Upgrading 5.7.x to 8.0.28+ Server Version Results in SSL Errors for ODBC Application (Doc ID 3010679.1)

Symptoms

On : 8.0 version, SSL

MySQL 5.7 ODBC Client

Database server is on MySQL 8.0.36 but have a client still at 5.7.41 version.

State: HY000 Native error: 2026 Message [MySQL][ODBC 5.3(w) Driver] SSL connection error:


STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Start with working 5.7.41 version of client and mysqld instance.
2. Upgrade mysqld instance to 8.0.36 version.
3. Attempt to connect again using the 5.7.41 client.

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot use the older application with the new database version.

Changes

 Similar message will arise for other connector types - it is not limited to ODBC Connector.
