How to manually add disk to DBSystems (Doc ID 3026874.1)

Last updated on JUNE 14, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database Appliance Software - Version 19.10.0.0.0 ODA to 19.23.0.0.0 ODA [Release 19]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The goal is to help with the steps on how to add disks into a Database System.

The experience of disk replacement should remain the same with or without DBsystem/AppsVM. Internally, during the disk replacement, if there are dbsystems running on the ODA, the oakd calls the BM dcs-agent to detach the old disk and attach the new disk to the dbsystems automatically.

However, if oakd. fails to issue the attachDisk call to BM dcs-agent, or the attaching disk to the dbsystem job fails, ASM disk will not be added the ASM. This is the main case when one needs to manually add a disk to dbsystem.

******For the purpose of this note, we are using disk SSD_E0_S05_1919299120 as an example******
