How to verify if rootpre.sh is already executed on the server ? (Doc ID 3030870.1)

Last updated on JUNE 25, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 19.18.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

rootpre.sh script is suggested to run on AIX machines . rootpre.sh script prepares the environment for the installation - it does not just load the post-wait driver.

The Oracle Universal Installer does the following on AIX systems:

1. Async IO is configured (if it is not already configured, or dynamically configured)
2. Post/Wait Kernel extension is installed/updated
3. Kernel Statistics extension is installed/updated

So even though the Post/Wait Kernel extension is already incorporated into the AIX 5L and above Kernel, Oracle still needs the rootpre.sh script to be run.The rootpre.sh script if there is a newer version of an Oracle database already installed on the system.

This documents helps to determine if rootpre.sh is already executed on the server .
