Symptoms

The query using "dbms_qopatch" package failed on a Oracle Restart setup with role separation(GRID and RDBMS homes are owned by two different users) and the database session was connected through listener using service identifier.

Since the listener is running from grid home and the gird user is not having WRITE permission on the folder "$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/log/", the "dbms_qopatch" related queries failed.
