Oracle Installation On Linux x86-64 throws architecture mis-match in linking phase.

(Doc ID 334329.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 09, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 10.1.0.3 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Relink log reflects the below discrepancy because of the required bit information missing. This is also hindering other utilities like tnsping to work as expected.

/usr/bin/ld: warning: i386:x86-64 architecture of input file `/u001/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1/lib/libn11.a(nnfgt.o)' is incompatible with i386 output
/usr/bin/ld: warning: i386:x86-64 architecture of input file `/u001/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1/lib/libn11.a(ntcontab.o)' is incompatible with i386 output

The same error can be  found in installation logfile/relink log  as well.
