How to Manually Install and Uninstall Ultra Search 10gR2 Server Components (Doc ID 337992.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

This bulletin is for Database and Ultra Search Administrators maintaining an Ultra Search environment.

As for all maintenance activities such as installing/uninstalling a Database component, it is recommended to firstly make a whole cold database backup.

UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL STEPS FOR ULTRA SEARCH PRESENTED IN THIS NOTE ARE ONLY FOR STANDALONE ULTRA SEARCH INSTALLATIONS SUPPLIED WITH ORACLE SERVER(RDBMS) SOFTWARE.
THESE STEPS ARE NOT VALID FOR ULTRA SEARCH INSTALLATIONS IN AN APPLICATION SERVER ENVIRONMENT.
FOLLOW THE APPLICATION SERVER INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR THE DE-INSTALLATION AND REINSTALLATION PROCESS FOR ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER COMPONENTS.

Scope

In Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2), if you plan to use the Ultra Search product, then you must complete the Oracle Database 10g Products installation from the Companion CD. For information about installing software from the Companion CD, refer to Oracle Database Companion CD Installation Guide for your platform.

Afterwards you can perform a new installation of Oracle Ultra Search with or without Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA).

Note:
====
- Ensure that Oracle Text and Oracle JVM are setup correctly.
- Only on 10.2.0.1 you must install <Patch 4709052> before running the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) or the Metadata Repository Creation Assistant on a 10.2.0.1 Real Application Cluster Database. If you do not apply the patch, you will receive an error message during Oracle Ultra Search configuration.
