How to Stop the <sid>_XPT Service from Registering with the Listener (Doc ID 339940.1)

Oracle Net Services - Version to [Release 10.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The purpose of this article is to explain how to stop the <sid>_XPT (e.g. v102_XPT) service from being automatically registered with a listener.

In version 10.2 of the RDBMS when an instance registers with its listeners it will register a service with the name <sid>_XPT (e.g. v102_XPT) in addition to the normal service names.

This service does not cause a problem and is intended for use within Data Guard environments for redo transport.

This <sid>_XPT service name is not defined in the SERVICE_NAMES setting so it is not obvious how to suppress it for the sake of clarity in non-Data Guard systems.
