Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

1. The loss of functionality consists of errors when importing a dimension during a user level
export and import.

2. This is a minor loss because the dimension is imported correctly.

3. This problem occurs when:

- export is done with a schema that has DBA privilege
- other schema's have a dimension with the same name
- import is done into a target database

4. This issue happened on a source database which is a 8.1.7.0 database with the WE8ISO8859P1
characterset on the platform Windows 2003

5. Whenever import is started, it errors with:

...
IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 30371:
"CREATE DIMENSION "<dimension Name>"
LEVEL "<Level Name 1>" IS ("<Value 1>"."<value 2>","<Value 3>"."<Value 4>","<Value 1>"."<Value 5>","<Value 1>"."<Value 6>","<Value 1>"."<Value 7>")
LEVEL "<Level Name 2>" IS ("<Value 1>"."<Value 7>","<Value 1>"."<Value 6>")
HIERARCHY "<Hierarchy Name>" ("<Level Name 1>" CHILD OF "<Level Name 2>")
ATTRIBUTE "<Level Name 1>" DETERMINES "<Value 1>"."<Value 8>"
ATTRIBUTE "<Level Name 1>" DETERMINES "<Value 1>"."<Value 9>"
ATTRIBUTE "<Level Name 1>" DETERMINES "<Value 1>"."<Value 10>"
ATTRIBUTE "<Level Name 2>" DETERMINES "<Value 1>"."<Value 11>"
ATTRIBUTE "<Level Name 2>" DETERMINES "<Value 1>"."<Value 12>"
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 30371 encountered
ORA-30371: column cannot define a level in more than one dimension
...

6. There are no import sessions that are working. Every import session contains the same errors.

7. The expected or acceptable result is that export only exports the dimension that is owned by
the schema that is exported and consequently no errors occur during the import.
