Troubleshooting Database Link (DBLINK) When Oracle Internet Directory (OID) Is Used For Name Resolution. (Doc ID 359068.1)

Last updated on MARCH 31, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Net Services - Version 9.0.1.4 to 10.2.0.1 [Release 9.0.1 to 10.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

To help troubleshoot database link (dblink) when Oracle Internet Directory(OID) is used for naming resolution.

Scope

Limitation is that we cannot use "." in creating the nets service name in Oracle Internet Directory (OID) as the character conflicts with the context set for domain.

For example, if you make the net service name as test.world, the "world" here would not be part of the net service alias, but would be a domain (context).

If the database link is from 9i to 10.1.0.4 you will not be able to use commands against the database link.
