Last updated on FEBRUARY 22, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version to [Release 9.0.1 to 9.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.

The extproc process is not terminated when the corresponding sqlplus session is closed. This can happen when the shared library with a call to putenv (libc) is called as an external procedure and the session is closed. After the sqlplus session is terminated the corresponding extproc should also be terminated but this does not seem to happen. This may lead to exhausting the process limit on the system.
