ORA-00904 'Invalid Column Name' or 'Invalid Identifier' Error When Running a Query Over a Database Link and All Columns Referenced Are Valid (Doc ID 361084.1)

ORA-00904 'Invalid Column Name' or 'Invalid Identifier' error occurs when running a query that uses a database link between 9.2, 10.1, or 10.2 databases.  This error occurs when the query has mixed predicates.

An errorstack on the ORA-904 can be taken as follows:

SQL> alter session set events '904 trace name errorstack level 3';
SQL> << execute the failing SQL here >>
SQL> exit


This will write a file to the udump directory.  The file will contain a Call Stack Trace similar to the following, where the call stack identifiers in the list are the first column values of each row:
