Symptoms

  • Oracle Enterprise Edition without Spatial but Oracle Locator installed
  • Oracle Standard Edition
  • After upgrading database from 10.1 to 10.2.0.1 or 10.2.0.2 Spatial Indexes cannot be dropped or recreated without errors
  • Errors that can be seen:
            ERROR at line 1 :
            ORA-29856: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXDROP routine
            ORA-29400: data cartridge error
            ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
            ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 27
    and
            ERROR at line 1 :
            ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
            ORA-06550: line 1, column 8:
            PLS-00201: identifier 'MDSYS.MDPRVT_IDX' must be declared
            ORA-06550: line 1, column 8: 
            PL/SQL: Statement ignored
            ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
