ORA-12154 Testing LDAP Connection in MMC Console with Microsoft Active Directory (Doc ID 369514.1)

Symptoms

While trying to implement LDAP Naming use Oracle10g R2 Client/Server with an Microsoft
Windows 2003 Active Directory Server (or later).

When trying to test the configured Net Service Name, 'sport' the following error is reported:

ORA-12154 : TNS :COULD NOT RESOLVE CONNECT IDENTIFIER SPECIFIED

Same error reported using Sqlplus with the LDAP Naming Adapter.

Verified the issue by the OWC session, which shows the 'ORA-12154 : TNS :COULD NOT RESOLVE
CONNECT IDENTIFIER SPECIFIED' error message trying to connect to the 'sport' instance from the MMC
Console.

Also verified customer can reproduce the problem with the TNSPING Utility returning the corresponding TNS-03505 error if the following sqlnet.ora parameter is set:

NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (LDAP)
