TNS-12532 TNS-12560 TNS-00502 Errors Starting The 9i R2 TNS Listener (Doc ID 380506.1)

Suddenly the Oracle9i R2 (  TNS Listener fails to start with the following errors:


Starting /u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin/tnslsnr: please wait...

TNSLSNR for HPUX: Version - Production
System parameter file is
Log messages written to /u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/network/log/listener.log
Error listening on: (ADDRESS=(PROTO =tcp)(PORT=1521))
TNS-12532: TNS:invalid argument
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00502: Invalid argument

Also the Listener trace shows problem reading the sqlnet.ora file:
