This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
One of the following:
- You have multiple Oracle installations in different homes but under the same user and starting a listener would pick up the LISTENER.ORA file from another home
- You have a single Oracle Home but the listener picks up a listener.ora file from another place than the default location ($ORACLE_HOME/network/admin)
Changes
Possible causes:
- Installed new Oracle products in a different home
- Changed shell environment settings
