External Connections via VPN Hang After VPN Upgrade (Doc ID 407100.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 26, 2011

Applies to:

Oracle Net Services - Version: 9.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.3 - Release: 9.2 to 11.2
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer reports with their laptop clients who connect using VPN normally use a tnsnames entry
with SDU=1200 while in-house connections use a TNSNAMES alias without the SDU setting.

In the last couple of days the customer has noticed that these VPN users are not able to make a
connection to the database.

While trying to isolate the issue they tried to make a direct SQLPLUS connection with SQLNET
tracing on. The connection using TNSNAMES entry without SDU connects ok, but the connection using
TNSNAMES with SDU hangs.
