Note:
There is a new parameter in 11g - DISK_REPAIR_TIME, that will not change the concept but could have an effect on the repair time

Purpose

This note explains how ASM detects and automatically repairs single block corruptions for normal or high redundant diskgroups. This note does not apply to diskgroups with external redundancy.

Scope

The reader should know about diskgroups (DG), disks, failgroups (FG) and different types of redundancy with ASM.
