Symptoms

When inserting LOB data into a 10.1 Oracle Database via the Oracle JDBC Thin driver, the client returns an ORA-03113 'End-of-File on Communication Channel' error, and a core dump with an ORA-07445 [memcpy] error is written to the database alert log.   This problem has been observed to happen when using the XA protocol to coordinate global distributed transactions but is believed to be a generic JDBC problem.
