Can Not Use OLAP After Upgrading To OLAP 10.2.0.3.0 Due to INVALID OLAP Option And Errors Like ORA-04063 (Doc ID 421671.1)

After installing a patchset on a Microsoft Windows platform, attempts to connect to the instance using the OLAP component (Analytic Workspaces) fail and the OLAP Analytic Workspace component is marked as INVALID.

An example for a patch that may cause this behaviour is:

5846376 ORACLE 10G 10.2.0.3 PLACE HOLDER BUG FOR PATCH 2 ON WINDOWS 32 BIT


Error messages may indicate <> indicating  that the SYS.DBMS_AW has errors.


-- Steps To Reproduce:

  1. Connect to the instance as sysdba using SQLPlus
  2. Execute:
    SQL>set serverout on
    SQL>call dbms_aw.execute('show tod')
  3. If you receive an error message about the SYS.DBMS_AW containing errors, proceed.
  4. Execute
    SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry
    &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; where comp_name like '%OLAP%';


If the OLAP Analytic Workspace component is marked as 10.2.0.x, but INVALID, this is an
indication that this component has not been upgraded properly. Step 2 confirms that the problem is actually with the DBMS_AW package.
